Arrangements for the week commencing 4th January 2021
Posted on 17th Dec 2020As you will be aware there have been various announcements from the Department for Education over the last week. The most recent publication can be found here Schools and childcare settings: return in January 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Whilst there is lots of detail that we are still awaiting, I wanted to be able to write to you and explain our understanding of the implications for your child.
- If your child has any Covid-19 symptoms or has been in close contact with a positive case, they should continue to follow the NHS advice and contact school as normal from Tuesday 5th January.
- Year 11 students will return to school on Tuesday 5th January for normal lessons.
- Parents who are key workers or children who are vulnerable in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 are invited to attend school as normal from Tuesday 5th January. A comprehensive list of who these children are is here: Critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or educational settings - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
- Children in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 who are not in school will complete Remote Learning from Tuesday 5th January to Friday 8th January. The requirement from the DfE has been updated to 4 learning hours per day. Guidance for full opening: schools - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Our remote learning plan will be updated over the holiday to include this wording: FEHS-Remote-Learning-Plan-September-2020-pdf.pdf (framingham.s3.amazonaws.com). Children should check over Christmas that they are able to access Microsoft Teams (this is the same username and password as for the school system).
School transport will continue as normal and school food will continue to be provided.
All students will be expected to return to school for face to face lessons from 11th January.
Once we have details of the testing regime that the Government wish to roll out in schools, we will be in touch. It is unclear at the moment how this process will work and be administered within school. Many thanks to those who have completed the form to offer support as volunteers for the testing in school.
Staff have a training day on Monday 4th January. Therefore, if your child does not know their login for schoolwork, please ask them to be in touch on this day with their form tutor, Mrs T Embery, Mr D Keates or Mr S Vandenbergh. Mrs Harvey has distributed laptops to those young people eligible and we encourage parents experiencing difficulties to be in touch a.harvey@fehs.set.education In addition, we now have a number of Vodafone SIM cards that can be added to dongles and laptops to allow connection. Again if this is a service that would support your family, please be in touch.
I am sorry that this is all last minute and feels very rushed. It has been a tremendous term and the whole community has pulled together to support Fram students having a positive school experience.
Please enjoy the Christmas break, sending best wishes to all
Mrs Becky Arnold
