Co-Curricular

Life Beyond the Classroom at Fram

At Fram, education is about so much more than lessons and exams. Our co-curricular programme is a vital part of school life, offering every student the opportunity to discover new talents, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and experience personal growth beyond the classroom.

We are proud to offer an extensive range of clubs, trips, events and experiences that enrich the lives of our students and help them flourish.

Clubs and Activities

Each term, students can choose from a wide variety of clubs and activities that take place before school, during lunch, and after school. These include:

  • FramulaE Racing Team – designing, building and racing electric cars at national events like Goodwood and Lotus.
  • STEM Club – coding Lego robots, 3D printing, and building engineering projects, including designing buzzers for competitions.
  • Sports Clubs and Teams – offering opportunities in football, netball, rugby, badminton, athletics, and more, with regular fixtures and tournaments against other schools.
  • Music Ensembles – including choirs, instrumental groups and solo performance opportunities.
  • Embroidery and Craft Clubs – connecting creativity with important projects like our Remembrance Day poppy displays.
  • Allotment Club – promoting sustainability and environmental action within our school community.

New clubs are launched each year, giving students the chance to shape the activities available based on their interests and passions.

Trips and Visits

We believe learning should stretch beyond the classroom, and each year we offer a wide range of trips and visits to enrich students' experiences.

Recent opportunities have included:

  • Cultural Visits such as trips to Norwich Cathedral, Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse, Castle Acre, and the Hippodrome Christmas Circus.
  • Performing Arts experiences with regular visits to the Theatre Royal Norwich and performances like Echoes of the East choir events.
  • Curriculum-linked trips including Year 7’s French Day Trip, Year 10 Geography and Art fieldwork in Southwold, and the Year 10 Macbeth theatre trip.
  • Residential Trips like the Year 8 Château Beaumont experience in France, the Year 9 Paris trip, and our awe-inspiring visit to Iceland.
  • STEM and Careers experiences including the Faraday STEM Challenge, Sizewell careers visits, tours of Sky Studios Elstree, and work with Norfolk County Council.
  • Leadership and Citizenship opportunities such as visits to the Houses of Parliament and volunteering performances at Barchester Care Home.
  • Sporting events and competitions across a wide range of sports including cricket, rugby, football, swimming, rowing, and more.

Whether developing language skills, exploring local history, performing on stage, experiencing a different culture, or competing in national competitions, trips are a memorable and valued part of life at Fram.

Activities Week and Work Experience

Every July, our timetable is paused for Activities Week — one of the most exciting and memorable parts of school life.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 take part in an incredible variety of activities, designed to inspire, challenge and build new skills. Options range from kayaking, surfing, horse riding, and cycling adventures to art and creative workshops, sport festivals, and STEM challenges.

Some activities take place on site, while others involve day trips across Norfolk and beyond — even residential stays such as the Performing Arts trip to London. Every student can choose a pathway that matches their interests, whether that's outdoor adventure, creative arts, team sport, or academic enrichment.

At the same time, Year 10 students complete their Work Experience placements, gaining invaluable insights into the world of work by spending time with local businesses and organisations.

Activities Week and Work Experience will take place from 8th to 12th July 2024. A full brochure is available to explore this year's exciting opportunities.
Financial support is available to ensure every student can take part — families eligible for Pupil Premium are encouraged to contact Mr Hyland for further information.
