The Dragons

The aims of the Nurture Curriculum are to:

  • Deliver a bespoke curriculum which meets the emotional and diagnostic needs of our Year 7 Dragons based on their Boxall Profiles.
  • Provide teaching and learning experiences which compliment and support the mainstream learning in Year 7 History, Geography and Drama.
  • Ensure that Year 7 Dragon’s have sufficient subject knowledge in all 3 areas of learning to enable them to transition comfortably into Year 8 mainstream lessons.

Students will be taught

  • Personal, social and emotional skills in line with the outcomes of their Boxall Profile assessments
  • Key skills from the Geography, History and Drama curriculum in agreement with the directors of learning for each subject

Students will have opportunities to

  • Work with Year 7 students in mainstream to showcase their learning
  • Present their learning to parents and families on a termly basis
  • Work with outside agencies, where it is possible, to enable educational trips

In addition

  • Students will be assessed in the same way as other students throughout the school with 3 assessment point in the academic year.
  • Manageable homework tasks will be set in line with current learning throughout each term using the SMHW platform.
  • Parents will be offered extended parents evening times to accommodate fuller discussions regarding academic, social and emotional progress.
